The implementation of preventive coaching in the workplace has resulted in a good balance and a pleasant working atmosphere at EP:Tummers. This is a key aspect that is central at EP:Tummers. When a signal is raised by an employee, quick and effective action is taken. An intensive and action-oriented method ensures that the employee is assisted even before it leads to a prolonged sickness trajectory.
However, that is not the only advantage. "The employee learns to critically assess oneself and the environment. Insight into one's own functioning leads to better control of frustrations and external stimuli. But most importantly, he or she rediscovers work happiness and ultimately achieves a good balance between work and private life," explains Natascha Manders. As HR Manager at EP:Tummers, her goal is to ensure a pleasant working environment. She is there for the employees. "I personally experienced the process as very pleasant. You could see the employee making progress during the process, which has now brought him closer to his true self," she adds.
"Fortunately, my employer was open to a conversation"
Stephan works as an Omnichannel Manager at EP:Tummers. Preventive coaching helped him during a challenging period, and he is eager to share his story:
"Working towards a position you aspire to, for which you study or have already completed a study, and finally, you have that desired position. Full of energy and enthusiasm, you start working on tasks, responsibilities, and projects within your new environment. It feels good, and you receive positive feedback from your work environment. You even put in extra effort to perform, to go for that 110%. And then, the unexpected happens. Work/private life gets out of balance, and due to excessive stress and even burnout symptoms, you are at risk of dropping out. You lose yourself. That is exactly what happened to me.
Fortunately, my employer was open to a conversation. I was even thanked for my timely report and openness. After I shared my story internally, and it was discussed, my employer suggested having a conversation with advisor and coach Jean-Paul from Thaeles. After an intake interview, we started with a form of preventive coaching.
During the sessions, we explored who I am, where I stand, what my motives are, but also what my hindrances are and how I view the future. Throughout the entire process, Jean-Paul supported me in a pleasant way. It is a process that requires openness and the acceptance that you will be occasionally confronted with a mirror. I personally found this positive as it provides many new insights about yourself. Once you accept and understand yourself, you can better understand your surroundings. That is one of the things I learned.
The result of the process was that I did not drop out for an extended period. After a few weeks, I could resume certain tasks and move within the organization. This helped maintain the connection with colleagues and the organization. Meanwhile, I am back in my desired position, which I am extremely happy about. I am not completely back to my old self yet. I also have to accept that. Sometimes certain things take time. But I'll get there, I'm convinced.
I wouldn't have succeeded without the trust of my employer and the pleasant contact combined with the expertise of my coach, Jean-Paul. Thank you very much for this."
